Flying is the quickest and most convenient way to get to us. Santa Teresa's closest airport is in Tambor. Sansa and Nature Air both fly to Tambor. Sansa departs from a small terminal in Santa Maria International airport while Nature Air departs from Pavas another airport in another suburb of San Jose. Please note that Santa Maria International Airport is in Alajuela, not in San Jose! The flight takes 25 minutes and costs around $90 one-way. From Tambor you will need to take a 40-minute taxi. There are usually plenty of taxis there but please contact us with your flight details and we will arrange one for you.
By Car (5 1/2 hours)
Drive from San Jose via highway one to Puntarenas (1 1/2 hours). In Puntarenas, drive to the end of the road and take a right towards the harbor. Here you need to take the ferry that goes to Paquera. Park your car in line with the others and buy a ticket for the car and the passengers. In high season the ferry leaves approximately every 2 hours. Please check the ferry times on http://www.navieratambor.com/horarios-y-tarifas. Once on the ferry you will drive through the town of Tambor and then through the town of Cobano. Two miles after Cobano take a left turn at the Santa Teresa/ Mal Pais sign. Once you are at the bottom of the hill and you have reached the crossed roads, here you want to take a right! Papa Pochote is 3 kilometers on the left hand side.
By Bus
The cheapest option is the Direct Bus that leaves from the Coca Cola bus station in San José. The price is approx. $11 USD and leaves at 6am and 2pm. To get to the Coca Cola bus station from the airport, it is a 30-minute and $20 taxi ride.
